With digitized surf finishing Rösler paves the way towards the smart factory
Growing demand, lack of qualified personnel and cost pressures pose serious challenges for the manufacturers of orthopedic implants. At the same time, new implant materials and highly intensive finishing methods offer new possibilities in the production of joint replacements. With digitized surf finishing Rösler presents a technology that combines high precision with process stability and cost-efficiency. Moreover, this technology can easily handle extremely hard materials, for example, ceramics. Digitized surf finishing brings the industry a step closer to achieving a smart factory environment.
New turbines from Rösler guarantee improved equipment availability and a 25% higher blast performance
Secure spare parts supply and improved blast performance, these were the reasons why a manufacturer of saw bands invested in ultra-modern new turbines for a belt shot blast machine. The customer chose the Rutten Gamma 330-HD high performance turbines from Rösler not only because of their extremely wear-resistant design. He was equally impressed by the 25 % higher blast performance with, at the same time, lower energy consumption. In the meantime, the customer decided to equip other blast machines in his manufacturing organization with Rösler high-performance turbines.
Innovative tub vibrator concept for better quality, higher efficiency and improved competitive standing
Plastification augers for melting plastic pellets are an essential part of each injection molding machine. To offer equipment that guarantees a maximum of quality and precision in an extremely competitive market, the globally active Engel Austria GmbH produces these augers exclusively at its Austrian manufacturing location in St. Valentin. The investment in two fully automated mass finishing machines from Rösler ensures not only a more cost-efficient production but also consistently high quality. The automation concept allows operating the tub vibrators and directly linked cleaning system with minimal personnel requirements. Since the optimized polishing process helps to substantially reduce the processing times, this trend-setting equipment concept will definitely be useful for other industrial applications.
A new standard for surface finishing in Vietnam: Interlinked mass finishing system meets the highest safety and quality demands
The HARTING Technology Group, headquartered in Espelkamp, Germany, is one of the world’s largest suppliers of industrial connectors. The company develops, among other items, innovative products for solar and wind energy, electric vehicles, hydrogen production and robotics. All these products represent an important contribution towards achieving a high degree of sustainability in the energy sector.
Investing in a plastic de-flashing shot blast machine cuts the personnel requirements by nearly 50%
Achieving a competitive edge in the market by cost-efficient production of innovative products. A global leader in the production of electromechanical components for safe and efficient switching operations and the protection of direct current applications followed this guideline by automating the de-flashing of plastic housings at its German location. The company chose a Rösler wire mesh belt blast machine, model RSAB 370-T1+1, compliant with ATEX regulations. This investment helped to practically cut the personnel costs in half!
Leading steel producer invests in a Rösler preservation line
One of the largest steel producers in North America recently built a huge rolling mill for steel plates in an industrial park in the United States. The new rolling mill is setting new standards regarding the size of the produced steel plates and is one of the most productive steel plants in North America. Besides supplying its customers in the oil and offshore industry with particularly thick and large rolled steel plates the company also offers the surface treatment of the plates as an additional service. The latter, enthusiastically welcomed by the industry, was implemented with a Rösler preservation line, type KON 47/3-HD, that was specially designed for rolling mills.
Faster cleaning of engine blocks with less personnel
With an innovative shot blast machine the largest foundry in Turkey has expanded its capacity for de-sanding and cleaning of engine blocks. A significant factor in the decision for the RMBS 1-6-400-30 shot blast system from Rösler was the high degree of automation of the work piece handling and the shot blast process. Compared to spinner hanger machines the RMBS system offers not only drastically shorter cycle times but also requires less personnel. In addition, by replacing the two existing blast machines the new system helped provide valuable additional manufacturing space.
Highly automated mass finishing solution for contract processing of a wide variety of components
The large variety of workpieces and materials was one of the key points in the specification for the investment in new mass finishing technology at the Eingliederungsstätte Baselland ESB. In addition, the processing should become easier and more modern for the employees, as well as more environmentally friendly overall. Rösler implemented these requirements with a highly automated mass finishing solution. It consists of two rotary vibrators with automatic separation and parts transport to the new energy-saving dryer as well as a semi-automatic centrifuge for the resource-saving recirculation of the process water.

Orthopedic Implants - Processing Technology Evolves with Industry Advancements | Part 4
Due to their precision, efficiency, and economy, mass finishing and shot blasting are an indispensable part of the finishing process for a wide variety of orthopedic implants in different manufacturing stages. These flexible machines and the Rosler process technology can handle general cleaning; deburring; surface smoothing after casting, forging, stamping, machining, and heat treatment; surface preparation for polishing or coating operations; and to create the final finish on all kinds of implants and medical devices. With an experienced partner such as Rösler, these processes are also capable of adapting to emerging trends with proper testing and processing trials.
AM Solutions advances automated post-processing with innovations and strategic partnerships
At Formnext 2024, AM Solutions – 3D post processing technology once again demonstrated its leadership in automated post-processing for additive manufacturing by unveiling groundbreaking innovations. The company’s renowned 2-in-1 systems also remained a key attraction. The exhibit was enriched by exciting insights into successful collaborations with industry leaders such as EOS and Stratasys, highlighting joint efforts that are shaping the future of additive manufacturing.
Finishing of artificial knee femurs – 4 x faster and fully automated
The expansion of the product range with knee implants made from titanium at a leading implant manufacturer required the purchase of new surface finishing equipment. With the multi-surf finisher RMSF 4/800 Rösler developed a solution, which, compared to the typically utilized drag finishing machines, produces the required results in two separate process stages about four times faster. It allows the fully automatic finishing of the “box” surface area. Cleaning and recycling of the process water is handled by an automatic Z 1000 centrifuge equipped with the digital process water management software “Advanced”. This ensures maximum process stability and excellent finishing qualities.
New comprehensive shot blast solutions for components in electric vehicles
Due to rapidly growing demand for components for electric vehicles, Alupress GmbH, a renowned manufacturer of innovative aluminum and magnesium die-castings, had to increase its shot blasting capacity. For this purpose, the company purchased a continuous feed spinner hanger blast machine, including a power & free transport system, from Rösler. The custom-engineered equipment design guarantees effective but also gentle de-flashing of the work pieces without the risk of warping.
